<hi style=afpcap>The P-47D was significantly different from earlier versions as its engine was water injected to boost power at altitude. A total of 6,300 were constructed by the parent company at their Farmingdale plant in New York as well as their secondary facility at Evansville, Indiana. The P-47D served in Europe and the Pacific, with delivered commencing at the end of 1943. The version was also supplied under the terms of the Lend-Lease agreement to the R.A.F. with 240 being delivered, as well as to Russia who had 103. Early production version of the P-47D were designed with a razorback aft of the cockpit canopy, which restricted rearward vision due to a blind spot. This was rectified on later production versions which had the bubble canopy fitted.</hi>
